Garware Marine Industries Limited was promoted by the Late Padma Bhushan Shri. B. D. Garware, founder of the Garware Group of Companies. Garware Marine Industries Limited (GMIL) is a Public Limited Company incorporated in 1975 as Modern Nets Ltd. The name was subsequently changed to Garware Marine Industries Ltd. in 1981. The shares of the Company are listed on The Bombay Stock Exchange Limited. The Company was engaged in the Manufacture and Marketing of Fishing Nets for over 3 decades and is catering to the needs of large number of fishermen throughout the Indian sub-continent. However the manufacturing and marketing activities have ceased to exist from August 2013. The company now runs a ship repair devision.
